Employment and work contracts

Whole YIT

If you are currently employed by YIT, there will be no changes in your employment or work contract. 

Lemminkäinen Oyj

If you are currently employed by Lemminkäinen Oyj, you will after the merger become an employee of YIT Oyj. You will transfer to YIT Oyj as a so called ”old employee”, and your terms of employment will remain unchanged.

Lemminkäinen’s subsidiaries in Finland

If you are currently employed by Lemminkäinen’s subsidiary in Finland, you will continue to be employed in the corresponding subsidiary of YIT Oyj. You will transfer to YIT as a so called ”old employee”, and your terms of employment will remain unchanged.

The only changes after the merger will be that the names of the Finnish subsidiaries will change. Lemminkäinen Talo Oy will change its name to YIT Talo Oy and Lemminkäinen Infra Oy to YIT Infra Oy. The subsidiary name change will have no impact on your work contract.

Lemminkäinen’s subsidiaries outside Finland 

If you are currently employed by Lemminkäinen’s subsidiary outside Finland, you will continue to be employed by that subsidiary. There will be no change in your work contract. In Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Russia, the processes of changing the subsidiaries’ names would begin directly after the planned combination has been implemented.

Payroll, holiday pay, tax cards

Whole YIT 

There will be no changes in the payroll practices at YIT.

Lemminkäinen Oyj 

If you are currently employed by Lemminkäinen Oyj, your pay day will after the merger change to 15th of each month as per the current practice at YIT.

In practice this means that you will receive your last salary at Lemminkäinen before the merger on 28th of the month, as usual. Thereafter you will receive the salary for whole of next month on 15th of the month and thereafter on the 15th of each month. These changes in the payroll schedule will impact when some allowances, for example overtime, will be paid.

At YIT Oyj, you will receive a web pay slip instead of a pay slip posted to you per mail. You will receive instructions on how to take the web pay slip into use after the combination has taken place.

Holiday pay for holiday year 1 April 2017–31 March 2018 will be paid in accordance with YIT’s payment schedule: 50% will paid 15 June 2018 and 50% 15 August 2018. Holiday pay for the so called ”old holidays” earned before holiday year 1 April 2017 – 31 March 2018 will be paid to you in connection with your salary in April 2018.

If the membership fee of the union Ammattiliitto Pro ry has been deducted from your salary at Lemminkäinen, the same practice will continue at YIT. If you are a member of another union, you will have to pay the membership fee yourself.

Lemminkäinen’s subsidiaries in Finland

If you are currently employed by Lemminkäinen’s subsidiary in Finland, there will be no changes in your payroll.

Lemminkäinen’s subsidiaries outside Finland

If you are currently employed by Lemminkäinen’s subsidiary outside Finland, there will be no changes in your payroll.

Rewarding

Whole YIT and whole Lemminkäinen

We plan to harmonize the rules and terminology of rewarding during 2018. At YIT, rewarding concerns so called variable employees and fixed employees; at Lemminkäinen the terms are employees under project rewarding and under annual bonus rewarding (STI).

In existing projects, project rewarding will not change. In other words, at YIT, rewarding of variable employees and at Lemminkäinen, project rewarding, will remain as they are. We plan to harmonize the project reward practices during 2018, and the current plan is to take the new practices into use only in new starting projects at a time to be announced.

We plan to harmonize the practices and processes of annual rewarding (Lemminkäinen: STI; YIT: STIP, fixed employees) after the merger. Annual rewarding will cover the same jobs and persons as in 2017. We will give additional information about the new practices to those whom they concern after the merger has taken place.

Also other rewarding practices such as service year awards are collected and paid in accordance with current practices in all YIT and Lemminkäinen companies. Current YIT personnel will continue with YIT’s current practices and current Lemminkäinen personnel will continue with Lemminkäinen’s current practices. There are some differences between YIT’s and Lemminkäinen’s practices, and we plan to harmonize them at least in Finland during 2018.

Holidays and working time

Whole YIT

If you are currently employed by YIT, there will be no changes in your holidays or working time.

Lemminkäinen Oyj

If you are currently employed by Lemminkäinen, there will be no changes in your holidays or working time; the only change will be when holiday pay is paid to you.

Holiday pay for holiday year 1 April 2017–31 March 2018 will be paid in accordance with YIT’s payment schedule: 50% will paid 15 June 2018 and 50% 15 August 2018. Holiday pay for the so called ”old holidays” earned before holiday year 1 April 2017 – 31 March 2018 will be paid to you in connection with your salary in April 2018. Your earned holidays, holiday pay days off and service year awards will remain valid at merger. They will continue to be based on when your employment at Lemminkäinen or its predecessors started.

You will continue to register your working time, holidays and other absences and have them approved in the Tiima system as agreed in 2017. Working time saldos earned at Lemminkäinen will remain.

Lemminkäinen’s subsidiaries in Finland

If you are currently employed by Lemminkäinen’s subsidiary in Finland, there will be no changes in your holidays or working time.

Your earned holidays, holiday pay days off and service year awards will remain valid at merger. They will continue to be based on when your employment at Lemminkäinen or its predecessors started.

You will continue to register your working time, holidays and other absences and have them approved in the Tiima system as agreed in 2017. Working time saldos earned at Lemminkäinen will remain.

Lemminkäinen’s subsidiaries outside Finland

If you are currently employed by Lemminkäinen’s subsidiary outside Finland, there will be no changes in the practices related to your holidays or working time.

Health care and sick leaves

Whole YIT

There will be no changes in health care or sick leave practices. In Finland, Mehiläinen will continue to be the health care supplier for YIT’s current personnel. There are some differences between the practices at YIT and Lemminkäinen, and we plan to harmonize them in 2018.

Whole Lemminkäinen

There will be no changes in health care or sick leave practices. In Finland, Terveystalo will continue to be the health care supplier for Lemminkäinen’s current personnel. There are some differences between the practices at YIT and Lemminkäinen, and we plan to harmonize them in 2018. 

Benefits

Whole YIT and whole Lemminkäinen

There are some differences in the benefits between YIT and Lemminkäinen. We plan to harmonize them in 2018.

There will be no changes in the benefits in either company. YIT’s current personnel will continue with the current practices at YIT and Lemminkäinen’s current personnel will continue with the current practices at Lemminkäinen. The benefits will be determined separately for each year.

Exceptions: YIT Finland and Lemminkäinen Finland 

  • The hobby clubs and holiday apartments of YIT will be available for the personnel of both companies.
  • The sports classes of both companies will be available for the personnel of both companies.
  • There will be no charge for Lemminkäinen’s sports classes at least in spring 2018.
Lemminkäinen Oyj

In addition to the changes listed above, if you are currently employed by Lemminkäinen Oyj, you will receive new lunch and sports cards. You can use your current cards to the end of February 2018.

If you have a Lemminkäinen company car, its leasing contracts will be transferred to YIT Oyj.

Lemminkäinen’s subsidiaries outside Finland

If you are currently employed by Lemminkäinen’s subsidiary outside Finland, there will be no changes in your benefits.

Insurances

Whole YIT and whole Lemminkäinen

In both companies, personnel-related statutory and voluntary insurances remain valid for the time being. YIT’s current personnel will continue with the current practices at YIT and Lemminkäinen’s current personnel will continue with the current practices at Lemminkäinen. There are some differences between the voluntary personnel insurances of YIT and Lemminkäinen, and we plan to harmonize them during 2018 at least in Finland.

Lemminkäinen Oyj

If you are currently employed by Lemminkäinen Oyj, you will move under YIT Oyj’s Statutory workers’ compensation insurance (TyTAL). YIT Oyj’s insurance company is OP. Additional information is available in YIT’s intranet, Pulse (requires YIT email address and logins]

Employee representation and co-operation

YIT and Lemminkäinen in Finland

Employee representatives will remain the same as before after the merger has taken place. Lemminkäinen’s employee representatives will keep their positions at least to the end of 2018 regardless of the changes in company structure. The employee representatives of YIT will continue their tasks as usual.

Employee representation in co-operation and management forums will be decided in 2018.

YIT and Lemminkäinen outside Finland

Employee representatives and personnel representation practices will remain the same as before after the merger has taken place.
